This is our basic introductory session on general sexual harassment policies, and equal employment opportunity policies regarding harassment and discrimination across all differences. Mason community rights and responsibilities are covered for faculty, staff and students.
2011-2012 Sexual Harassment Prevention and Equal Opportunity Training Schedule
All Classes will meet at George Mason's Fairfax Campus in Mason Hall. Trainings are open to all Mason Faculty and Staff. We recommend that those in supervisory roles and faculty up for promotion and tenure schedule this training as soon as possible.

2. Mason's Preventing Sexual Harassment Online Training
In addition to our "in person" SH Prevention and EO Training, we also offer an interactive on-line training program. This training tool provides an excellent opportunity for employees and students to better understand what constitutes sexual harassment and remain current on sexual harassment policies and laws.

3. Sexual Harassment Awareness
This training specifically deals with sexual harassment only in greater detail. It also provides interaction and experiential learning.
4. Search Committee Briefing
Presented jointly by the Office of Equity and Diversity Services and the Office of Human Resources & Payroll, this one-hour training covers the steps in Mason's hiring process, including best practices for conducting the process legally and efficiently.

5. SUPERvisor Series: Equity
Participate in cultural awareness exercises and training, review Mason's EEO and discrimination policies, and review the disability policy at Mason, including reasonable accommodations.Upcoming classes:

6. Diversity and Cultural Awareness
This session introduces participants to ideas regarding diversity and its benefits. Participants explore ways to begin to recognize differences that are not always apparent on the surface
7. Cultural Awareness to Cultural Competency
This interactive and experiential training begins to explore skills that go beyond recognition of cultural differences and the best methods to adapt or address these differences that diverse groups experience.
8. Diversity and Racism - The Road Less Traveled
Diversity tends to be the most comfortable topic when dealing with human difference. In this session we explore the often avoided topic of Race and Racism when dealing with the management of diversity.
9. Equal Opportunity (EO) & Affirmative Action (AA)
This information session gives insight into Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action. Topics to be discussed include: The definition of EO and AA, as well as how both are applicable in higher education and the workplace.
10. Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Disability and Employment
This course provides an overview of the employment provisions of the Americans with Disability Act of 1990 (Title 1) and the Rehabilitation Act of 1993 (section 504). It covers: The rights and responsibilities of employers and employees; Definitions of "disability"; the process for identifying and providing reasonable accommodations; How to troubleshoot job performance and safety issues; Pre-employment do's and don'ts; Requirements concerning medical information and confidentiality; What happens when someone files a complaint.
